Alex & Sam’s sample report

Meet Alex and Sam, a fictional couple who answered the full questionnaire.

We wrote this sample to show what a report includes. Your own report uses AI to reflect on your answers and notes. Nothing you do on this page is saved. Includes questions about sex and boundaries.

About Alex and Sam

Alex and Sam are fictional adults, married for eight years with one school-age child. Each answered 31 questions, including the optional parenting questions, and added five notes. They didn’t choose the optional questions about agreements involving other partners. We wrote this sample to show how a complete report works; it wasn’t generated live by AI.

Two perspectives. One picture.

What your answers show.

Here’s where you chose the same answers, where your experiences differ, and what might help you understand each other. The explanations are suggestions, not facts about either of you.

Your alignment, at a glance

50% means you chose the same answer on half of the questions we could compare. It isn’t a score for your relationship. Choose a topic to read more.

Filled: matching answersUnfilled: different answers

A match means the same answer choice, not necessarily the same feelings or reasons. You can also match on a worry or difficulty. Different answers don’t tell us who is right.

We leave out skipped, uncertain, not-applicable, or missing answers, and questions with different wording. We need at least two questions with answers from both of you to show a percentage.

Something worth keeping

You both say you often feel cared for. Alex appreciates the tea Sam makes after a long day. Sam appreciates Alex checking in before and after a stressful meeting. These are small things you already notice and value in each other.

More free time, without losing financial security

Choosing an answer doesn’t commit either of you to doing anything. Either person can say no, skip a topic, or change their mind.

The two of you, chapter by chapter.

Each topic starts with what you answered, then a possible explanation and questions you could ask each other. If an explanation doesn’t fit your experience, you can set it aside.

The questions are optional. There’s nothing to complete, and neither of you owes an answer.

01 · Connection & care

A walk sounds good. So does one less thing to organize.

Same answer on 2 of 4 questions

You both often feel cared for. Right now, Alex would most like practical help or relief, while Sam would most like unhurried time together. You both like the idea of an evening walk.

What may be behind this

For Alex, the appeal is a walk without having to organize the next day. Sam says even fifteen minutes together sounds good. The walk could meet both wishes if Alex also gets a break from planning.

Questions you could ask each other

  • What helps you feel cared for at the end of a tiring day?
  • What would make an evening walk feel relaxing to you?
  • When you tell me you're struggling, what helps you feel understood?

02 · Disagreements & repair

A quiet pause, with reassurance and a time to return.

Same answer on 1 of 4 questions

Alex says a twenty-minute quiet break makes it easier to listen again. Sam wants reassurance before a pause and finds silence hard without a plan to return. You both want to agree on a specific time to come back to the conversation.

What may be behind this

You both want to return to the conversation, but need different things during the break: quiet for Alex, reassurance for Sam. Agreeing on when to return may not be enough on its own. Alex feels understood after disagreements less often than Sam does.

Questions you could ask each other

  • What would you like me to say before we pause a disagreement?
  • What helps you feel I've understood you, even when we still disagree?
  • What kind of help would you want from someone outside our relationship?

03 · Everyday life & energy

The job starts before the lunch gets packed.

Same answer on 3 of 6 questions

One match is a worry or difficulty you both reported.

Alex finds the planning and parenting split somewhat unfair; Sam finds it mostly fair. You both only sometimes get enough time to rest without managing another task. Clutter also makes relaxing much harder for Alex than for Sam.

What may be behind this

The difference may be about counting the planning as part of the job, not just doing the task. Alex wants help remembering and noticing what needs doing, without having to ask. Sam says there are steps they don't see, and wants to handle school messages and lunches from start to finish.

Questions you could ask each other

  • What needs remembering or planning before a school lunch gets packed?
  • What would help you rest without keeping track of the next job?

04 · Money & security

A shorter workweek, with the essentials covered.

Same answer on 2 of 4 questions

Alex is a little worried about current bills or debt payments; Sam isn't worried. For a major financial decision, Alex would first protect money set aside for essentials. Sam would first protect time, health, or flexibility.

What may be behind this

The open question is what would make working less feel affordable to both of you. Alex names six months of essential expenses; Sam wants to see what you could afford before changing anything. Neither answer tells us what a shorter workweek would actually cost.

Questions you could ask each other

  • What would having six months of essential expenses covered mean to you?
  • What would you most want more time for in a shorter workweek?
  • Which spending decisions would you want us to talk through before acting?

05 · Family & belonging

Room for family. Room for the two of you.

Same answer on 2 of 3 questions

One match is a worry or difficulty you both reported.

You both say parenting commitments and time as a couple aren't fitting together very well. You differ on commitments to family, friends, and community: Alex says they mostly fit the time and energy available; Sam says they fit only a little.

What may be behind this

You both feel mostly comfortable setting boundaries around other people's involvement in your relationship. These answers don't name a particular family or social commitment either of you wants to change. There may be more to understand about which commitments matter most to each of you and where time feels tight.

Questions you could ask each other

  • Which commitments to family, friends, or community matter most to you?
  • What kind of time together would you like more room for?
  • What boundary with family or friends matters most to you?

06 · The future

You both want clarity about work. Alex is more worried.

Same answer on 3 of 4 questions

You both want to understand how work and the rest of life will fit together. Alex is quite worried about possible differences in your plans for the next few years; Sam is a little worried.

What may be behind this

Alex worries that a shorter workweek could mean less security and doesn't know which tradeoffs Sam has in mind. Sam wants to work less while keeping the same home and family life. What that would involve is still open. You both say you don't want more children; talking about work doesn't require revisiting that answer.

Questions you could ask each other

  • What would a good ordinary day look like to you a few years from now?
  • What would you want to understand before deciding whether a shorter workweek could work for us?
  • What would you most want to keep about our home and family life if work changed?

07 · Intimacy & boundaries

Affection doesn't have to lead to sex.

Same answer on 5 of 6 questions

Alex would prefer about the same amount of sexual contact; Sam would prefer more. You both say your current physical or sexual closeness mostly suits you and that you're very comfortable declining contact.

What may be behind this

Sam doesn't want affection to feel like a request for sex, and says more rest and time together would matter whether or not sexual contact changed. That note describes Sam's wishes; it doesn't tell us what Alex might want to change. Neither person's answer is consent, and either person can say no or pause.
